Our Everyday. First day of Kindergarten {Los Gatos, California, Family Photographer}

Early Bird had her first day of kindergarten this past Monday. Throughout the summer she had been a little nervous. She’s not really keen on everything being brand new… new school, new teacher, new friends, new routine but the week before all three of us ventured up to the school to just “look around.” Luckily we were able to peek into her class, play on the kinder playground and just get a feel for our new home away from home. Luckily her teacher happened to be working in the room so we got to meet her as well as take a look inside. Early Bird ventured around the room and asked questions. Afterwards I could tell she felt ALOT more comfortable about starting the new year. When this past Monday morning arrived she was ready to go! No tears… from either of us… we were both ready!

Capitola Day {Our Everyday}

Since Early Bird has been out for the summer this is a little of what we’ve been doing… just having fun!!

Yesterday was a beach day at Capitola Beach, our most favorite beach ever!!

Our Everyday. Ballerina Camp Performance time

Last week Early Bird participated in a Ballerina Camp at her dance studio. At the end of the week they held a performance for the parents to show off everything they had learned and made (tiaras, necklaces, bracelets, etc. Because, you know, ballerinas have to be accessorized!)

We were super proud of her! She did a great job and LOVED it!! That’s my girl!

She actually LOVED her teacher, Ms. Mariana, but for some reason she’s got a growl going on. Not sure why 😉

This week my BFF came out from Texas to spend a few days with us (eeee!!!) and we took him strawberry picking, something you definitely can’t do in Texas!

Retirement & beyond (Our Everyday}

“Sometimes you have to let go of what’s gone, appreciate what remains and look forward to what comes next.” – unknown

Today is a special day for this sweet lady below.

She is my mom and I couldn’t be more proud of her if she was my own daughter.

You see, she’s retiring (FINALLY… and again) after 43 years of being in the public education system.

She’s taught …

… special education

…. gifted and talented

…. fourth grade

… the last 17 years as a Diagnostician for the Fort Worth Independent School District

… retired the first time in 2005

… came out of retirement in 2006

and now is officially DONE!

She holds a Masters and two degrees.

She has no idea but she inspires me to keep growing and keep learning. She is my best friend and knows me better than anyone.

She has helped probably thousands of students and inspired hundreds of teachers. She has worked tirelessly (like most teachers) on her days off and holidays.

And now, she deserves a break!

Here’s to you, mom, for showing me that a mom can have it all, for being there for dad and me all those years and to keep striving upward and onward!

I love you! Congratulations!
