I love her freckles.

Early Bird finished up her first year in public school, aka, kindergarten!
It was a bawlfest for this momma most of the day. When did she go from a spunky 2-year old to an even spunkier 6-year old?!!
She was excited (I’m a FIRST GRADER!)/sad (I’m going to miss my friends and teacher this summer)/nervous (I won’t know everybody in my class next year)/proud (I did it!)
So many emotions in such a little girl.
Love her to pieces!!

And just for comparison.
First day of preschool – last day of kindergarten.

I had the privilege of having a little playdate with these cuties! I couldn’t haven’t asked for a better pair. They were funny, sweet, and a super tight pair. Just what you think of when you hear the word “sisters.”
I love getting to document a fleeting time in somebody’s life. These two will never be this age again. In 10 years they’ll be at a different stage, running off with different friends and who knows, maybe different cities.
This is why I ALWAYS tell my clients not to wait.
Don’t wait to be 10 pounds lighter. Don’t wait until the to-do list is not as long. Don’t wait until it’s the “right time.” Time passes so quickly.
Don’t wait!
If you are interested in documenting through video DON’T WAIT!

Early Bird’s 6th birthday was at the end of January. We had an impromto photoshoot 15 minutes before school but I usually like to do an official photoshoot commemorating the passing of another year, like at 5 and at 4 and at 3, but we had to wait a little longer. I’m glad we did. The early spring flowers are blooming now. If you’re from California then you know our green season only lasts about two months at the most, in February and March. We usually get rain in the winter so everything comes alive after that for a brief time and it’s so beautiful… even if it’s fleeting!
We ended up doing a documentary video of the occasion so look for that in the next couple of weeks. I couldn’t help but take a couple of still images while we were out amongst the beautiful flowers in an abandoned orchard.

Today is Early Birds first dance competition! We’re in fully prepping mode. The curlers are in the tights are laid out, the new tap shoes are shined and the lipstick is ready! This dance mom is also ready to rock!
Let’s do this!!
